Dog Waste Removal in Fircrest

Fircrest is the town with the bears. Thirty-odd chainsaw sculptures stand in residents' front yards, most carved out of the homeowner's own tree once it outgrew the lot, kept rather than hauled away. Neighbors dress them for the season. Murphy is the one everybody knows by name. It is a small city almost entirely wrapped by Tacoma, and that front-yard habit says something useful about the place before you ever open a gate: the part of the property people can see is held to a standard here.

The back yard runs on a different agreement, and it is the reason a Fircrest lawn is harder to keep on top of than a scruffier one. Manicured is the operative word. Grass cut that tight has nowhere to hide anything. There is no shaggy stretch along the fence, no bark bed swallowing what lands in it. On most properties a missed pile is a near miss. On a Fircrest lawn it is the only thing in the frame, and it is visible from the kitchen window from about twenty feet out. That standard is exactly why people here hire a pooper scooper service and then keep it, because falling behind is instantly obvious in a way it simply is not in a yard with taller grass.

Fircrest also walks its dogs differently than the towns around it. There is no destination dog park pulling everyone out of the neighborhood on a Saturday, so the walking happens on the sidewalks, in loops, past the bears. That is pleasant and it is also the reason the yard does not get a break. When the walk is a lap around the block rather than an hour at an off-leash field, most of the week's volume still lands at home. Pierce County requires a dog to be leashed and under control anyway, so the back yard stays the one place a Fircrest dog is genuinely off duty, and it absorbs everything that comes with that.

The lots are the manageable part. Fircrest yards are larger and better kept than Tacoma's platted city lots a few blocks east, which means the work is thorough rather than tricky. Flat, fenced, mowed short, easy to cover properly on a fixed weekly route. Put us on a weekly visit and the lawn never gets a chance to look neglected. Bi-weekly works on a single-dog yard. If a wet spring got away from you, a one-time reset puts it back to the standard the rest of the street is holding.
